In the spring of 2006, the Provincial Library and Literacy Office assembled a Working Group, with representatives from each of the ten public library systems, to consider development of Aboriginal library services in Saskatchewan. Effective September 13, 2006, the group became known as the Committee for Aboriginal Library Services (CALS).
CALS assesses the degree to which progress has been made in improving library services for First Nations and Métis peoples in Saskatchewan and the extent to which the forty-six recommendations from Information Is For Everyone-Final Report of the Minister's Advisory Committee on Library Services for Aboriginal People have been achieved, and the challenges that remain in this important ongoing work.
