Access to Multilingual Electronic Resources

  • Overdrive E-Books

PLLO started buying multilingual Overdrive eBooks in 2012. As of August 2017, the collection has 3,000 items in ArabicBengali, ChineseDutchGermanHindiJapaneseKoreanNorwegianPersianPolishRomanianRussianSerbianSpanishSwedishTagalogUkrainian, and Vietnamese

1)   Go to Overdrive.

2)   Click Search and then Advanced.

3)   On the Advanced Search page, select the language you are looking for in the Languages menu. 

4)   Click Search.

5)   Browse the list for details.

6)   Follow the instructions to download books or read them online. 

You may have to install software on your computer or eBook reader before you can read eBooks. Contact your public library branch for assistance if you encounter technical issues.

  • PressReader

PressReader is a database which provides online access to today's newspapers in full-color, full-page format and has up to a 60 day archive. There are more than 1700 newspapers from 92 countries in 48 languages.

Each public library system has an electronic library resources page, where you can find the link to the PressReader database.

  •  Mango

Mango is an online language learning system teaching practical conversation skills for a variety of popular languages, such as French, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese and much more. Mango also has English as a Second Language courses. (Mango is currently available at Regina Public Library)
